Android Apps for Sports Enthusiast

There are several Android sports apps on the market that will please the most avid sports fans – admittedly there are lots of rubbish apps as well. Whether you are looking to follow the action in a major IAAF track meet, the Olympics, your favorite NFL team or football league we have an sport app for you.

Athletics Stats (Free)

Athletics Stats was specifically designed to track an athlete and the marks they make during IAAF sanctioned events. Whether it’s Usain Bolt or Tyson Gay you are following, the app allows you to see their performance records for the various events they participate in and even graph their progress over time – data is provided by the IAAF and can be stored on the phone to be accessed offline. Some of ‘Athletics Stats’ main features include:

  • Ability to view athletes mark for each events i.e. 100m, 200m, triple jump, long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin, decathlon etc
  • View all marks by athlete
  • Graph the athlete’s progress over time
  • See a Google Map of where the event took place
  • Database can be set to update automatically
  • Has track & field data going back to 2002
  • Indoor and outdoor world records table

Use this app to watch videos; including full episodes from anywhere you can get a Wi-Fi or cellular data service. Sports fans will love the fact that they can watch sports related content from CBS Sports, but the app also streams videos from CBS, CNET, ET, Showtime and CBS News as well. Sports Tracker

If you harbor ambitions of becoming an athlete, or you just want to get fit, we believe you will be interested in this Android sports app. Sports Tracker allows you to track the sporting event that you participate in such as your workouts, bike rides and runs. For each event it can record the time you took to complete the distance, your average heart rate, the distance covered and can even estimate the number of calories you burnt. QR code

Sports Calendar provides a quick and easy way to find and follow the schedule of your favorite sports team, athlete or sporting event. It also allows you to add sports schedules to Google Calendar so you can be reminded of an upcoming event you are interested in.
