Android Apps for Football Enthusiasts

Posted By Steve McFarlane on August 16th, 2011

There are tons of Android football apps on the market but the large majority are absolute rubbish. Our objective was to assemble a short list of great football apps. These apps can help you stay in the know by giving you the latest stats, match results and team/club rankings. We included virtual football games as well.

Soccer Scores – FotMob

This is one of the most popular and feature-rich football apps you can find. It has club stats, match results, lineups and news relating to a large list of teams and clubs. The app covers large number of leagues including: Premier League, Championship, Conference, Bundesliga, Europa League, Champions League, Mexican league, Scottish Premier League, Allsvenskan, Superettan and Tippeligaen to name a few.

There is also news from clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, Juventus, FC Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Liverpool and others. The free version is ad supported, but if you purchase the paid version you get push alerts and live scores. QR Code

The Football Database

This is a Android sports app for those who love football trivia, team stats and wagering. You won’t get live match results and scores from this app; instead you will get a large database of match results for over 179, 000 matches played between more than 2,000 clubs. The app gives you a team-by-team overview of each match and most interesting, it can predict the match result based on historical results (the app does place greater weight on more recent matches). We can see why this would be a favorite of those involved in sports betting. QR Code

Run Football Manager (soccer)

Regardless of whether you call it football or you call it soccer, once you are a fan of the game, and mobile gaming in general, you should enjoy ‘Run Football Manager’. It is a multiplayer soccer game that can be used to meet, challenge, and play with other players online. Gaming activities include managing teams and players, while you try to garner fan support and win the league. The app is not entirely detached from the real world though as it allows football enthusiasts to read real-world football related news. QR Code

FiFa 11 Tracker

This is not the FiFa game! What this app does is allow you to track your FiFA 11 results. You can use the app to track game results, statistics and standings for the Electronic Arts FiFa game. Other features include:

  • Recent match list with team logos
  • Leaderboard for you and your friends
  • Detailed statistics for each player
  • Notifications – Get notified when your friends have played.

The Best Android Golf GPS App

Posted By Steve McFarlane on June 1st, 2011

Being able to measure the distance to various golf course obstacles and at the same time track and analyze your own statistics can be a real game changer. These golf apps will put a powerful tool in your pocket that can drastically improve your game or at least lift it above the standard of your buddy’s.

In addition to being able to track distances, Golfshot has over 35,000 professional mapped courses with aerial view and distance to any point on the course. With so many reasonable priced golf GPS apps it is difficult to recommend an application that charges $29.99, but that’s what Golfshot costs. Golfshot does have some graphing and stats features that help it justify it relatively high asking price though. (more…)
